Bad day

Today was a beautiful day the sun was shining lovely 80 degrees not a cloud in the sky and I survived!

This morning all was well, no early rising children to throw off my schedule, (I even got to finish shaving the leg that didn't get shaved yesterday) and I was off to a great start, no one missed her bus, and lunches were all accounted for.

Well then we went to a friends house for a joy school mtg, that is a whole nuther post though, anyway after that I took Whit to the bus and then had to take Courtney in for a hearing test. The only reason for it was that she is now 2 and still only says like 10 words. So not wanting to dawdle like I did with Whit, (also a whole nuther post or 5) I decided to start speech early. Well part of that was the aformentioned hearing test.

She failed! SHE FAILED! She was NOT supposed to fail, Whitney didn't fail she could hear fine, she had low muscle tone in her jaw and can't feel part of her tongue but her ears were perfect! I guess the reason I was so freaked out about it was that I was expecting it to be the same problem as Whit (they say it is hereditary). I can deal with that I know how, it is hard but not NEW! This is a whole new problem. The Dr referred her to a ears throat and nose Dr. We have an appt. Friday. I may be freaking out over nothing. Of course right when we get home I get online and check out everything. It said that the middle ear can get plugged by wax and fluid and that after they are cleaned and drained there is no lasting effect. AHHHH! Bliss... But then the next one says if it stays there too long it can cause permanent hearing loss...UHH WHAT! Then it also said that middle ear problems can be caused by other unkown things! By the way how long is too long? And how do I know how long (if this is the problem) she has had this been going on? She never has complained about her ears, she hardly complained about it when it was infected.

I just don't know. She is such a cutie, you just want your kids to be perfectly healthy, ya know? She past her newborn screening no problem. She has only had 1 ear infection her whole little life. WHAT THE HECK! So anyway at least we know what the problem is so we can get it fixed, even if it is permanent there are options right? Right. Right.

So that was only part of the bad day. I will take a picture and post the other part tomorrow. You might laugh, or cry depending on how your husband reacts to this kind of a mistake.

Ok, so on a more postive note, I did get all the Zucchini shredded and ready for bread and I now know the answer to the pole question. It is...

You didn't really think I would tell you before the pole closed, did ya? Ha, silly you. You have to wait with everyone else!

Hmmm - that is scary. Ch failed his newborn hearing screening in one ear, but has passed the rest and T has horrific ear wax build up and I know she can hear me (even when she chooses not to)...so hopefully there is a silver lining to the cloud. Let us know how things progress!
