Ok you would think that with as many posts as I have done I would learn that they load backwards! The ones you add last go first. So when trying to do things in order it always ends up backwards, so if you want to see this in the CORRECT order go down and work your way up! :)

Here's Aubrey doing the same thing as Whitney. Aubrey chose blue and Whitney chose red. Next time we do this we will use less food coloring, they came out really bright!

We couldn't find plain mochi anywhere, and since this is part of our tradition for New years we went online and found some simple recipes. Courtney really wanted to help so above is her mochi.

Ooohh...is it the sweet mochi or the sticky kind. I've never made it in balls like that. (Well, at least until after I cook it and add some red bean paste in the middle. =P) Looks yummy, even the blue ones! (We had yellow this year.)
What a great family tradition! Did anyone play the part of the old man who bites off too big a piece and chokes himself to death? That's my role at our house. The amazing thing is that I never get tired of doing it no matter how many times my wife slaps me.
